What happens if I live or own a business in the area where the new VA or University Medical Center are to be built?
If you live or own a business in the area where the new VAMC or University Medical Center are being built, you should have already received, or will soon be receiving, a letter from the State of Louisiana regarding the purchase of your property or the relocation of your property to a nearby neighborhood.

Residents and businesses are being contacted by letter regarding relocation to nearby neighborhoods. As occupants or owners of properties planned for acquisition, they are being informed of their rights under the federal law known as the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Estate Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 (URA), which ensures fair treatment for those being asked to relocate.
